Ruth Beechick Style Homeschooling is an Eclectic approach which focuses on natural learning through Real Books and Real Life. Basically Beechick is a Christian homeschool support group to discuss the methods and ideas of Dr. Ruth Beechick. Other authors whose ideas mesh well with Beechick's are discussed as well. These authors include (but are not limited to) Susan C. Anthony, Rebecca Rupp, Jean Soyke, E.D. Hirsch, Jessie Wise and Susan Wise Bauer, Harvey and Laurie Bluedorn, Laura Berquist, Robin Scarlata, Jane Claire Lambert, Valerie Bendt, Clay and Sally Clarkson, Cindy Rushton, Mary Hood, Marilyn Howshall, and Charlotte Mason.

Chevra was formed in September 1998 as an online support community for Jewish homeschoolers of all varieties. It tends to be a very chatty place where they discuss Jewish observance, homeschooling, family life, outside interests, and (the favorite topic) why the laundry never seems to get done. If you are looking for a group that discusses only homeschooling and Judaic resources, you may very well be disappointed in Chevra's free-wheeling discussions of everything under the sun, but there is lots of great information here.

Louisiana Home Education Network (LAHEN) is a statewide homeschooling network consisting of families covering a diverse spectrum of homeschooling styles and philosophies. It exists to help homeschoolers protect the fundamental right of the family to educate its children in the manner it deems appropriate without regulation or interference by federal, state or local agencies. Louisiana Home Education Network monitors and responds to legislation which may pose a threat to homeschooling, and to this end maintains dialogue with local, state, and national homeschooling organizations.

This email group is for those who use Sonlight curricula but also like the unschooling approach (and other compatable methods). Working out how to mix the two, curricula exchange/sales, and connecting with other eclectic Christian unschoolers is the object.

Fruity Catholics are Catholics who are doing their best to practice the Fruits of the Holy Spirit, especially Charity. This group discusses the Charlotte Mason philosophy of homeschooling from a Catholic perspective.

Homeschoolers face tremendous demands on their organizational skills. Frequently creative, hardworking, and goal oriented, they must manage the home, other children, teaching, and the many other demands of a stay-at-home parent. The Wild Azalea group is a secular, inclusive support group that provides support and activities for homeschoolers and their families in the New Orleans area. The Wild Azaleas have been in existence for over 14 years.

This group is for Unschooling Dads, Granddads, and Dads-to-be who have attended one of the past 3 Live and Learn Conferences OR who have spouses who attended one of these conferences. Other unschooling fathers (et al.) can also join the group through invitation. Our intention is to keep a running dialog and passion for unschooling our children between conferences.

This is a Christian home education support group affiiated with the statewide Christian Home Educators Fellowship of Louisiana. They serve the Covington/Mandeville area just north of New Orleans. They offer organized field trips, encouraging parent meetings, a newsletter, band program, drama productions, graduation, award nights, science fair, spelling bee, a lending library, curriculum fairs, and more.

Northshore Home Educators is an inclusive and non-directed support group open to all homeschool families on the Northshore in St. Tammany Parish regardless of differences in beliefs, cultures, religion, backgrounds, and methods of homeschooling. Most of their activities take place in surrounding areas of Slidell, Louisiana, Mississippi, and New Orleans.

The Bookroom is for homeschooling families using "living books" and other educational materials designed to delight the interested learner. Members vary in educational style, including classical educators, unschoolers, and Charlotte Mason teachers as well as members who borrow from a variety of educational philosophies.

This list is to encourage and support those who homeschool many children. How many? To some 3 is a lot! The discussions on this loop primarily revolve around the implementation and use of resources which are recommended in the MODG syllabi and in DYOCC. Additionally, they always welcome conversations about the classical methodology of MODG/DYOCC.

This group was created to support and connect unschoolers in Louisiana. Although secular in nature, unschoolers from all walks of life are welcome. Beside planning physical get-togethers, this group explores unschooling topics such as natural learning, respectful/mindful parenting, joyful living, freedom and autonomy, living by principles vs rules, convincing family, surviving panic and criticism, living without fear, non-coercive parenting, deschooling ourselves, and letting go of controls.

African-American Single Parent Homeschoolers is a discussion group designed to lend support and resources to parents who are home schooling alone.

For those using Charlotte Mason homeschooling methods for special needs children. A wide range of special children are represented on our list, from learning differences to developmental delays, audio and visual processing disorders to deafness and blindness. This is an inclusive, informal group for the Southwest Arkansas, East Texas, and Northwest Louisiana area. This group is available for homeschoolers who are not religious based, and who would like to meet on a regular basis for educational outings as well as social events for the children and adults alike. They meet for Park Days and schedule several inexpensive group field trips a month. Homeschoolers as well as unschoolers are welcome.

The Christian Home Educators Fellowship (CHEF) of Louisiana is a Christian organization comprised of Christian home school support groups from around the state. They provide timely national and state news, assist in the formation of new home education support groups, direct new families to a group in their area, support home education research, provide training for support group leaders, and more.
